Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is rising globally. From 1990 to 2016, the number of CKD patients increased by 86.95%, reaching over 275 million worldwide. In China, a national cross-sectional survey (2007–2010) across 13 provinces and 47,204 adults revealed a CKD prevalence of 10.8% — suggesting over 120 million adult patients nationwide.
